Konstrukt

Concept

Wood, hammer, and nail – tools for physical construction. But what shapes the invisible structures that define our perception of masculinity?

For Konstrukt, I returned to my Bavarian homeland to critically examine the traditional images of masculinity that have shaped me. My focus lies on adolescence – a period of transformation and identity-seeking, deeply marked by change. In familiar settings, portraits emerge that reveal alternative expressions of strength and vulnerability – a personal attempt to redefine the space between authenticity and societal expectations. By portraying people from my closest environment, the series offers intimate insights into the tension between personal authenticity and the expectations shaped by social norms.

Konstrukt thus creates a visual space that invites viewers to question familiar gender roles and their own perspective on masculinity in transition.
