Concept

The five pictures are a part of the freestyle series of photos from the project âIndustriewald RuhrgebietÔ (Industrial Forest of the Ruhr) about the sites of the former collieries Zeche Rheinelbe, Zeche Alma, Zeche Graf Bismarck, Zollverein, Kokerei Hansa, Viktor 3/4 & Zeche Waltrop and show how former industrial sites in the Ruhr region are being returned to their natural state. Old fragments of industrial use appear ephemeral, are overgrown by returning plants and reveal only little of the industrial heritage of the sites.
