The images show the people who live and work in Agbogbloshie. Agbogbloshie is a dumping site for electronic waste in Ghana. The electronic waste originates primarily in Europe and the volumes are constantly growing, and the profits the Ghanese gleaners reap from the waste are extremely modest. The unusable parts are burned and the stench of the fumes is unbearable. I shot portraits of the people and the fires and combined them in expressive diptychons. It was essential to me to capture the dignity of the people in my images.
