Megalopolis, or the Subversion of China's Landscapes

Concept

This series examines the rapid construction and expansion of in many cases unheard of Chinese megacities, specifically people’s interactions with increasingly dense and vertiginous urban environments fast consuming what were until recently agricultural and rural settings. This rampant expansion shows no sign of stopping. In the process we observe settings in which people can appear secondary and subservient as they wend their way beneath the dizzying motorways and belittling, monotonous architecture that have overtaken once verdant fields, forests and hillsides.
